To prevent the downward transfer of heat, insulation is required below all types of underfloor heating. Building regulations will need to be complied with, so the architect for the project will need to specify the grade of insulation required. Depending on the application, the insulation board may be required to carry the weight of the floor and its loading, so this aspect has also to be considered.
