Heating cable is ideal for smaller installations or for rooms with an irregular layout. Here the flexibility of the loose cable makes it possible to heat the maximum available floor area. Heat outputs can be varied by the spacing of the cable.
Heating cable can be installed on top of either suspended timber floors, or solid concrete floors, enabling installation in all room types. Ideal floor coverings for use with this system include ceramic, stone, slate, porcelain, marble, limestone and terracotta.
All electically heated floors must be controlled by a thermostat connected to a floor temperature probe. By directly measuring the floor temperature, the thermostat ensures that the floor tempertaure can not rise beyond the specified limit.
Insulation must always be installed below the heating mat to reduce heat losses into the sub-floor. This improves performance and reduces running costs.
Electric heating systems should be installed, tested and commissioned strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and by a qualified installer. It is advised to test the cable before, during and after installation. The use of an RCD breaker is recommended.
