For structural reasons, 'I-Beam' joists can't be notched to allow the pipes to be looped at the end of the runs. If space allows, cross-battening to lift the heating system above the joists is the best way to work around this.
Although it is possible to install the pipes from below, threading the pipe runs through the joists (as pictured), is very time consuming and labour intensive.
